Well, today was our fourth visit to the doctor in a week's time. I wasn't really upset about going because it's just a fact of life that kids get sick. (And especially when you love each other as much as we love each other, the germs get passed around quickly. ha ha) Anyway, I wasn't upset, but I thought to myself, this is kinda crazy and a drag to have to be going to the doctor this much. The second I thought those words, my thoughts went to my sister and her little girl.
To quickly explain, my older sister had her baby prematurely and due to that fact as well as complications at birth, their sweet daughter has had her share of physical trials, as well as her fair share of going to the doctors and specialists. And the journey has most likely just begun for her and for them.
So, as I sat in the second waiting room, (you know, the room where you are put after the first waiting room, but you still haven't seen a doctor yet) I said a prayer for my sister and her family, and a prayer for all families who have to deal with physical "stuff" that really isn't fair. It especially hurts when it's your child who suffers. We, as parents, want a perfect world for our children. All good parents feel that way, I believe.
I read a scripture tonight that I thought pertained to this very subject, because truly with trials there are no answers as to why or to when it will end. I believe we may never know the reason why...anyway, this is what I read in the Book of Mormon, in Mosiah chapter 7 verse 23
"And now is not this grievous to be borne? And is not this, our affliction great? Now behold, how great reason we have to mourn. Yea, I say unto you, great are the reasons which we have to mourn: (skip to verse 33)
"But, if ye will turn to the Lord with full purpose of heart, and put your trust in him, and serve him with all diligence of mind, if ye do this, he will, according to his own will and pleasure, deliver you...."
What greater witness can we have then from God?
What a fantastic scripture to relate to the tender feelings of our heart! How we love and pray for those in our families who have "afflictions."
